Volunteer Role
• Have a 15-minute conversation with the student each day.
• Encourage the student to speak in English, express themselves and participate actively.
• Listen, engage and provide encouragement.

Shared Ownership
The student owns their learning. The mentor provides the space and consistency that makes regular practice possible. You are not expected to teach English or prepare lessons – just Speak Up!

Volunteer Impact
As a volunteer, you can play a key role in strengthening a student’s communication skills and act as a catalyst in making them more placement-ready. Your consistent presence and conversations can make a meaningful difference in their confidence and ability to communicate at the workplace.

Consistency is the key
A mentor’s regular availability helps students build the habit of speaking and gives them a safe space to practice, make mistakes and improve.
